What International Survivors of Suicide Loss Day is
International Survivors of Suicide Loss Day is held each year on the Saturday before U.S. Thanksgiving. It is a day for people who have lost someone to suicide to remember them, in company or on their own.
Gatherings are organized by other groups, including the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Beyond September does not host Survivor Day events and is not affiliated with any organizer. You do not need to attend anything to mark the day.
Read the free Survivor Day guide
Making Room for Their Memory offers gentle choices for the day: private or shared remembrance, deciding whether an event feels right, asking for company and protecting privacy.
Carry it into the holidays
Survivor Day falls just before the holiday season. When Someone Is Missing offers ideas for gatherings, boundaries and remembrance in the weeks that follow.
Share a family story
On the Survivors page, families can submit a story for review. Nothing appears publicly without your consent and our review.
Support beyond the guide
There is no deadline for seeking support. You may want it soon after a loss, years later or during a season that surprises you. Beyond September provides awareness and education, not therapy, medical care, crisis services or peer support.
External organizations provide their own services; a link does not imply a partnership.
Need support right now? (United States)

You can reach out for emotional distress even if you are not sure you are in a crisis. For immediate danger, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department. Outside the United States, contact your local emergency service or crisis line.
